First Aid training is REQUIRED
for construction workers.


Federal OSHA Regulations (29 CFR 1950): In the absence of an infirmary, clinic, hospital, or physician, that is reasonably accessible in terms of time and distance to the worksite, (OSHA has defined reasonable time to be 3-4 minutes) which is available for the treatment of injured employees, a person who has a valid certificate in first-aid training shall be available at the worksite to render first aid.

California Construction Safety Orders T8 CSO 1512(b) state: “Each employer shall ensure the availability of a suitable number of appropriately trained persons to render first aid." Cal-OSHA has defined “suitable number” to be a minimum of 2 people/jobsite. If only 1 person is on site, that person must be first aid trained.
