HEAT ILLNESS – 2010 SAFETY PACKAGE

 
According to Cal-OSHA, in 2009:
• 16 Jobsites were shut down for imminent hazards due to heat
• Nearly $2 million in penalties and 1158 citations issued
• District Attorney may review these cases for criminal activity
• Bad press/media attention
• 41 confirmed heat illnesses and 1 confirmed fatality

In 2005, there were 15 heat-related deaths.
In May 2008, on the first hot day, 2 workers died from heat…

Your business is at risk if you are not complying with Cal-OSHA §3395
 
Do you know:
• How to determine if shade has to be up at start of shift? (This
   requirement added last year)
• What qualifies as shade and how close it has to be to workers?
• Shade has to be available for what percentage of crew?
• How much water is needed?
• How water provisions must be replenished?
• How to acclimate employees to heat?
• How to recognize heat stroke or heat illness and first aid methods?
 
Policy must cover all the above and more! Get into compliance with this new 2010 Heat Illness Safety Package, includes:
1. Written Heat Illness Safety Policy that meets current regulations, plus forms
2. Heat Illness SafetyTraining Program (everrything needed to train supervisors & employees)
